DIY Ring light
What a beautiful day here in Eastern Canada. Cool crisp air, a cloudless sky, and melting snow. I almost forgot how amazing it is to actually feel the sun shining on my face. I'll miss skiing, but not the sidewalk slush, and the wind chill. But, can I really complain? No I can't. Anyway...This is the ring light that I made. I know I mentioned I'd post my own method, but honestly it's not far off from all of the others online. I used diffuser material from an old soft box, and check out the auto assist feature! ie hole. It actually works quite well. It was over thought a little, as my first attempt involved fibre optics but failed miserably. It's true, the simplest solution to a problem is often the best. I'm working on stream lining the design of the ring light adaptor to make it suitable for wedding and event photography, but we'll see. Here is a pic of what I was able to put together. Also check out this link http://strobist.blogspot.com/2007/11/ring-flash-week-intro-and-resources.htm or search google on how to make your own. Cheers.
